Joint construction
Joint construction or guided modelling is the third stage in the Curriculum Cycle. This stage focuses on metalanguage through explicit instruction. The main focus in this stage is for the student to understand the process of writing using content and language. The joint construction stage is where the teacher and the students work together to create a text. This stage is guided by the teacher where they lead the discussion with the students and facilitate the creation of the text. It is important in this stage that the teacher does not dominate the composition of the text (Gibbons, 2007).
